Cement Truck Crushes Two Girls Outside Petrol Station in Prachinburi

They were almost certainly in the blind spot. The distance you can travel at that speed in just 3 or 4 seconds could have put them there. You dont check mirrors every second while driving. Your rotate thru them and if you check you side mirror and the scooter is well behind you  it can travel that distance before you check back.

I had that exact thing happen to me.  Girl was well behind me. I turned on my signal and she was still behind. Started my turn and she decided to speed pass on the left side and slide down the whole side if the truck.  Happens all the time here as there is no driver awareness for scooter drivers and sadly no enforcement from police. Life goes on as usual

Nah.

He was never aware of the bike to his left.

His a truck driver in Thailand.

he and we all know bikes will come up the inside of us.

He never looked when he should have done.

Good day.

So he turned without checking his rearview mirror.

Looks like the two on the scooter were trying to get past the truck before it turned left. to fast, and the truck driver, was already committed to the manoeuvre could not see the scooter

He must be new to Thailand. Motorcycles passing on the inside while I am signalling to turn left, is a frequent occurrence here.

Thats just your guess as you were not in the truck so have no clue.  Also it wasn't on the inside but outside of tge truck on the shoulder.

Bikes do pass on the shoulder illegally regularly here. Also weaver in and out of traffic both in tge lane on the shoulder or between vehicles so they can be first in line.

The distance a vehicle at speed can travel is much farther than you seem to understand.  There are also blind spots for trucks which you can not see vehicles in. You appear to not understand that. Trucks even have signs posted on the backs about it.

Im not claiming the trucker was right or wrong but I am saying the girls on the bike were typical thai scooter riders oblivious to their surroundings and clueless to danger. Especially if the turn signal was on.

Its a shame they died and it was avoidable. But if thailand doesn't care to teach proper driving skills, place restrictions on scooters (and cars) and enforce the infractions nothing will change.

Bla Bla Bla.

The truck driver should have been aware of the bike, way, way,  way. back.

Stop defending his bad driving. :coffee1:

You've never driven a arge truck have you? I suspect not.  You also can't read well as I never said I defended him.  Trucks have blind spots adjacent to the side  and its easy to not see a speeding  vehicle pull up beside you and try to look pass illegally on the shoulder

Maybe he was aware way way back and the girl sped up to pass him when he slower to turn placing herself in that blind spot. It happens all the time but maybe you havent been driving in thailand very long. You have a great day and watch for those scooters  now

Yes thank you,  I have driven a large truck not an arge truck. :coffee1:

27 years driving riding here.

The truck driver never checked to his left side before the bike entered his blind spot.

He should have looked a long time before maneuvering. ( he never did )

FYI, that was not a thumbs down from me. I don't know why you got it either.

I think I know who it is… A grudge over a disagreement in another thread so now he 'dislikes' everything I say

Some people just have very fragile and immature egos.

Highly inexperienced motorcycling. Zero danger awareness.

Oh now the bike did enter his old spot ? Interesting changing in stance. But you dont seem to want to be wrong so you just keep going with that.
