That is your choice to buy a LED bulb or not but it isn't expensive for such a bulb and they do last considerably longer than the filament type.

He has clarified that the 200 baht is only for fitting per bulb which is excessive in my opinion.

Some LED's are good and last a long time some are rubbish and even dangerous.

That works because dollars work in US and you are actually in US.

You think in dollars. You've never been able to make the jump to value things in baht. I'm not saying it's not effective in some cases - it's just you lack the experience to understand the value of the currency no matter where you live and how long you claim to have lived in Thailand.

A person living here should be able to value everything from a grilled mackerel to a houseplant.

In this case, instead of complaining here a quick check on Lazada for this tourist should have sufficed.

I really have no idea what you're going on about, I've been living in Thailand for 20 years now, so you seem to have some strange issues that you're dealing with.

no need to cut the power, just turn the light switch off.  Takes the technician a few minutes, at most.  Not cheap but I suppose it’s all relative.

Its irrelevant how long its takes, From reading your comments it sounds like you don't have a clue about electrics but are quibblibg over £15 for an electrician to change the lights, why don't you do it your self, you will need

1 x steps 1000b

1 x tester  100-300bt

1 x electrial screw driver .100-300bt

1 x pad saw incase different size, 100bt

Well over 800b

Just changed one without any of those things, which IMO illustrates how absurd a 200b install fee is.

You are right about one thing, I did not have a clue about electrics…other than knowing 200b is a joke.

How many expats does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

None.  It takes one Thai to screw in the light-bulb and 26 expats to argue about it on AseanNow!

I would not even ask the juristic person about such a simple matter. And certainly not publish my frustration on AN.

The other option is do it yourself, fall off the ladder, get taken to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital and the bill is quickly 1m baht

I guess the bulbs are not located on the roof of a highrise building.
