Totally harmless and eat bugs that you don't want. Leave it alone and it will do its job for you. It wont eat your brains and based on your post it is doubtful if you have many for it to eat should it want to.

ok maybe they are part of the gecko family but they are 2 completely different animals. fair enough, bit like calling a tiger a cat then i suppose. tigers and lions are not the same animal however!

The Gecko spray is available in Homepro and other shops as well. It does not kill and you are supposed to spray it at the areas the Geckos like to sit. They don't like the smell and will move. If you want the Gecko to leave you have to spray everywhere. It works but the smell is not so pleasant.

You can buy 'gecko/lizard' spray.  It can act as a deterrent, but is more effective if you spray the gecko directly.  They will drop to the ground and appear stunned.  Easy enough to them gently sweep them up and put them outside.

Her nickname’s a no-brainer nod to the grasshopper. 

 

If you want to catch them, you can buy the sticky pads from CJ or Big C.

Just like the ones you buy to catch mice etc.

Here is what the bastards do to your aircon controller boards. 3000 baht replacement. Every single one of them I see now, gets the death penalty. 

Get a pack of fly paper, very sticky and has some sweet substance on it and lay it around where geckos go and sooner or later they walk on and get stuck...

I came up with another trick.

 

I use very small garbage bags which I replace often and I keep the garbage bags in the fridge.

I don't leave garbage bags out anymore. 

So there is no food out ever.

I can sometimes catch them with my hands and take them outside.  Also I have a dustpan that the broom sits inside of and can brush them into it and cover it with the broom and take them out.

 

Those sticky fly traps will also catch them.

After moving into my new home for about 3 months I had one fry a compressor unit outside.  To my surprise the warranty covered the repair (Carrier brand).  The mechanic said I should spray Baygon Lavender in the opening where the lines go into the unit about once a week.  I guess they don't like the lavender smell.

I really like to have a Gecko in the room. They keep all unwanted creepy crawlies away! I used to have two big spiders before that took care of the Jin-jok's as they made a lot of droppings everywhere. I think the huge gecko that has taken over also took care of the spiders!! This is Thailand and I love all the things moving around in the "Shadows"!   🤩

With your last question, are you sure it hasn't had a nibble or 2  

They used to get in the back of my microwave and short out the circuit board. Mostly I could get them out and it worked again. They also got into an AC unit causing that to short out. There are sprays available on the web that they don't like and won't hurt them.

They may eat bugs but they poo everywhere, and I think I prefer the bugs.

It is true. Who want spiders and other creepy crawlies aorund when you just need one Gecko to take care of the problem!! Leave it alone! Its shy and will hide so you rarely can see them! They can be a bit noisy at times! Ifind that relaxing! I then know it is around and "keep watch"!😂
