In a major anti-narcotics operation near the mouth of the Prasae River, Rayong, authorities have seized a staggering 2,399 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, with an estimated street value exceeding 300 million baht within Thailand. If smuggled abroad, the drugs could have fetched up to 1.5 billion baht on the international market.

The operation was jointly conducted by the Royal Thai Navy’s First Naval Area Command, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) Region 2 and various specialised task forces including the Naval Intelligence Divisionand Special Operations Units.

Authorities successfully arrested eight suspects during a raid on a targeted site near the Prasae River estuary. Alongside the drugs, officers also seized seven vehicles believed to have been used in the transportation of the narcotics.

Investigators are now working to trace the financial networks behind the operation and determine whether the suspects are linked to transnational drug trafficking syndicates. The size and sophistication of the seizure strongly suggest involvement of a large-scale, well-organised criminal network.

Officials praised the inter-agency collaboration and confirmed that further arrests and asset seizures are likely as the investigation progresses.
