Hope we can all see how this article relates to border protection, as most countries of the world recognise it.

He is an illegal immigrant, no free accommodation, no appeals for removal.

At least he had a visa at one time and overstated it. That's the legal process, right?

A 25-year-old Irish national wanted by authorities in Ireland for a string of serious criminal offences has been arrested in after overstaying by more than 13 months, immigration police have confirmed.

The man, identified only as “Mr E.” by police, was apprehended on 25 June outside a cannabis dispensary named Breaking Bad Budz in Sai Thai Subdistrict, part of Krabi’s Mueang District. His arrest forms part of a broader crackdown on foreign nationals involved in criminal activities and visa violations in the country.

According to Colonel Sorathat Iamla-or, Chief of the Krabi Immigration Office, undercover officers had been monitoring Mr E.’s movements for several days before making the arrest. Upon confirming his identity and his 415-day overstay, the suspect was taken to Mueang Krabi Police Station for further legal processing.

Authorities revealed that the arrest came at the request of the Irish police, who had sought assistance via diplomatic channels. Mr E. is reportedly facing prosecution in Ireland under the authority of the Director of Public Prosecutions on multiple charges, including:

• Violent disorder and assault

• Cocaine trafficking

• Money laundering

• Unlawful detention of women and children

The arrest was part of a targeted operation by immigration police, which ran from 19 to 25 June, focused on rooting out foreign nationals posing security risks to the country. Police are urging the public to report suspicious behaviour involving foreign nationals, especially those suspected of drug-related crimes, illegal entry, overstays, or any actions deemed harmful to Thailand’s national security.

Members of the public with relevant information are encouraged to contact the Immigration Bureau’s 24-hour hotline.

Mr E. is expected to be deported following legal proceedings in Thailand, although extradition proceedings may follow should Irish authorities formally request his return to stand trial.

What a prize act !!! The question I  have is "How did he get to leave Ireland".  This does not say much for Ireland with respect to security.

25-year-old  - can he ever be rehabilitated when he fundamentally is morally corrupt?

Costs money to extradite him and then feed him in an Irish Prison where there's drugs on demand delivered by drone to your cell window. Pity they can't keep him in the Bangkok Hilton instead.

obviously a problem in Thailand as I cannot read Thai 😉

You are not alone.
Story on here some time back about a Leeds fan who had a tattoo.
“ I heart Leeds United” tattooist wrote Manchester instead of  Leeds  within the heart.
apparently quite chuffed with it, until it was pointed out to him

You never had colcannon?

IMO one of the tastiest simple dishes ever, especially the fried up leftovers.

I am of Irish ancestry and have an Irish sounding name.

When I was 18 my first day on a new job an older guy asked me:

"So are you lace curtain Irish or pig sh?t Irish?"

I guessed somewhere in between.

Maybe you are closer to lace curtain on the continuum.
