What do locals think of foreigners living in rural parts of Thailand on very modest budgets?

Because why would anyone with a lot of money choose to live there?

To be close to the wife/GF's family?

Incredible, another one of your extremely detailed, insightful and philosophically well-rounded responses. Can always rely upon you to add so much value to the discourse.

Whatever he's making in his retirement is more than the average local makes here anyway. Just to live here you need to make at least the minimum, or at least the locals think you do. No one knows how

How can a foreigner tell you what Thai think on this?

Maybe they don't like cities or loads of people.

Stupid topic dude.

Yet here you are, having replied at least 13 times already, with several of your posts now removed for blatant trolling. Says a lot about the guy who’s so pathetically obsessed with this topic that he just can’t stop spewing his drivel.

Some weird trolling replies to the OP......

I live in a rural area in south Thailand.  I spend about 20,000 baht/month on renting a detached house 10 minutes from a beach, $400k meecical insurance, internet, electricity and food.  That's all I need to spend - I don't need to spend any more than that for a healthy and enjoyable life as a single person.

My neighbours are village Thais, very friendly, always say hello.  They know that I'm a retired teacher and no doubt assume that I'm poor (which I'm not!).  I only need 1 pair of shoes - I only have 2 feet 🙂

I've been to villages. I was well received. Thais like me. I speak Thai. Chok dee.

This is a farang forum. Why would they know what Thais in villages think of poor farangs? Most Thais don't give a stuff about farangs you know.

By those farangs on here who have lived amongst them for years, seems you are lost again..🤕

So I can live on a modest budget and laugh at thai people wondering why I moved there.

Never asked and definitely don't care.

None of your business, and I doubt you speak Thai.......🤥

Do you want to live in a village? If not why ask the question? Do you have any area in mind? Have you been to small towns like Pua?

They probably thought that their favourite long lost village idiot had returned.

I speak Thai fairly well. I don't dodge questions. No need to. Nothing to hide or be ashamed of.

Always with the insults.

You need to be brain dead to live  in the boonies as it’s insufferably boring..David beckam and his wife could do it

We are all different, remember that, not all thinking like you........😉

I personally could not live in an isolated village, even though a plonker on here says I do................ 😂

Or you fell for the allure of a pretty Thai woman who suckered you in and then tore you down, as that's all she knew and was good at keeping it hid for quite awhile. You stayed, at least for now, until you can escape to a better place where you're child will have a better future. ....................Yes, you guessed right and it is boring, as is much of the country outside of the beach areas.

People with nothing to hide, hide nothing. Dr Phil. Phil is correct.

I think you are asking at the wrong place.  Describe 'modest', and a modest westerner's income, isn't a modest Thai's income.   Technically, a westerner can't live at a Thai's modest income in TH, unless using an agent to skirt the financials for a visa.

With that, probably no different than what most G20 country citizens think of poor immigrants living in their neighborhood, though suspect Thais would treat folks far better.

I'll await the next thread so folks can belittle Thais.  3 new ones in just over an hour.

So the topic is not serious. Thought so. You dodged all my questions.
