A collision claimed the life of a pedestrian who was struck by a car while crossing the road on Phahonyothin Road, near kilometre markers 188-189, Moo 9, close to Wat Wang Khon Kwap Temple in Khok Samrong district.

Police Lieutenant Payap Runghuapai, investigation officer at Khok Samrong Police Station, responded to the scene after receiving reports of the fatal collision. Rescue teams from the Khok Samrong Relief Association also attended.

At the scene, a bronze silver Mitsubishi sedan was found with damage to its front end. Nearby lay the body of an unidentified male pedestrian, lying in a pool of blood.

The driver told officers that he was travelling from Lopburi town towards Khok Samrong when he noticed a person walking by the roadside. As he approached, the pedestrian suddenly ran across the front of the vehicle, leaving him no time to brake and avoid the collision.

The deceased’s body was taken to Khok Samrong Hospital for a post-mortem examination as authorities continue to investigate the incident and identify the casualty.

I was taught if you see a pedestrian, on the side of the road, you SLOW down and pass with caution...driver is guilty of neglect manslaughter.

Be careful what you advocate for, lest some idiot pedestrian jump in front of you, your wife, or someone else you love and you/they end up in prison through no fault of your own.

M experience is Thai speed up, or flash their lights and speed up. I keep calling it the me first syndrome and my Thai wife agrees.

I especially love it when Thai's do this as they fly through a STOP sign at twice the speed limit, not sure that's what a STOP sign indicates. We have a 4-way STOP sign intersection close to my townhouse, the main road has STOP signs in the both directions that are completely ignored, not a single car/motorcycle stops for these, other than myself and my wife. Two of the four STOP signs have Zebra crossing in front of them with STOP lines before them, THAI's don't care and refuse to stop. So the two STOP signs on the side roads can never turn out, as they are being blocked by speeding vehicles trying to cut them off.....PURE MADNESS!

I simply quote what I was taught, obviously you advocate slaughter on the roads.

I'm not against slowing down and being careful.

I am against banging people up if pedestrians do what pedestrians here often do, which is suddenly change direction and cross the street without looking.  You can't be going slow enough to avoid some of them.  Not to mention, you claim the ...driver is guilty of neglect manslaughter  without even seeing any evidence.

You'd feel different if an idiot pedestrian jumped in front of your car or your wife's car, or your kid's car.

How so ?

A survey of vehicle, pedestrian impacts shows a different type of windshield damage associated with such incidents. The image shows a frosted effect., yet there is a description of front end damage.

At a high speed, the. pedestrian will experience severing of limbs or decapitation. At lower speed, the pedestrian is thrown up and over the hood into the windshield causing an impact with the glass pushed in. Other times there is a hole made, and other times the windshield just cracks. Type in pedestrian impact with automobile windshield or with automobile images and you will see a distinct pattern of windshield damage. There are no patterns  similar to the image used in the article.
