Jokia, a blind elephant rescued from Thailand’s logging industry, has formed an emotional bond with a rescued calf named Lek Lek and her mother Moloh Loh at the Save Elephant Foundation. Once reclusive and traumatised, Jokia has transformed into a nurturing grandmother figure, now inseparable from the pair. Her journey from isolation to companionship has inspired global admiration, with sanctuary staff praising the healing power of animal connection. “This is what healing looks like,” said the foundation’s founder. The trio now roam the pastures together, symbolising resilience and hope.
