When I hear this song I get goose bumps all over my body. President Trump is the Lincoln of our century.

I hope you are not suggesting that Trump show go to a play at Ford's Theatre!

If so that would be against forum rules.

I'm a fan of the lyrics in Hendrix songs... very relevant, even now. However, many kids and old people are lost... although, the Eagle's song like "Hotel California" is a good example of the EU and other institutions now etc. haha.

Hendrix, still appropriate after 50 years.

Hooray, I awake from yesterday
Alive, but the war is here to stay
So, my love Catherina and me
Decide to take our last walk through the noise to the sea
Not to die, but to be reborn
Away from lands so battered and torn
Forever
Forever
Oh, say can you see, it's really such a mess
Every inch of Earth is a fighting nest
Giant pencil and lipstick tube-shaped things
Continue to rain and cause screaming pain
And the Arctic stains from silver blue to bloody red
As our feet find the sand and the sea
Is straight ahead
Straight up ahead
Well, it's too bad, that our friends can't be with us today
Well, it's too bad
"The machine that we built would never save us"
That's what they say
That's why they ain't coming with us today
And they also said
"It's impossible for man to live and breathe underwater forever"
Was their main complaint, yeah
And they also threw this in my face, they said
"Anyway, you know good and well
It would be beyond the will of God
And the grace of the King"
Grace of the King, yeah-yeah
So, my darling and I make love in the sand
To salute the last moment ever on dry land
Our machine has done its work, played its part well
Without a scratch on our bodies and we bid it farewell
Starfish and giant foams greet us with a smile
Before our heads go under, we take a last look at the killing noise
Of the out-of-style
The out-of-style, out-of-style
Ooh-ooh-ooh
So, down and down and down and down
And down and down we go
Hurry, my darling, we mustn't be late
For the show
Neptune champion games to an aqua
World is so very dear
"Right this way, " smiles a mermaid

Oh no !!!! Hendrix rears his ugly head in yet another music-related thread.

His music simultaneously induces one to get the urge to do drugs, but at the same time his lyrics warn you that drugs will mess you up.

And thanks for confirming my theory that people don't take time to study lyrics and have no idea what they're listening to.

Anyway, these lyrics are a bit nuts. Not sure about his other songs. Never got into all his music.

Purple haze, all around
Don't know if I'm comin' up or down
Am I happy or in misery?

Help me
Help me

When utilizing song lyrics in your own product, failure to set forth the copyright data is plagiarism.

Probably the best lyric writer & original Artist  currently around from the UK .. & a lovely bloke but very much a victim of life & the streets. Dare anyone to listen to these songs and the lyrics and not be utterly blown away at the rawness & honesty  in then..

Ren wont ever be massive though, wont  bow to the big boys demands nor play their games .. Much respect

Its like "take a load off Annie" from the Bands The Weight.

I gave up interpreting song lyrics in 1983 when I discovered Gravitys Rainbow. There are whole websites on that

He wants to escape a bad world and be reborn as a merman  (male mermaid)

Some song lyrics are straightforward with a simple message.

Other song lyrics are deliberately abstract, but have a hidden meaning that the songwriter wants you to try to figure out. Maybe Hotel California and Stairway to Heaven fall into that category.

Some song lyrics probably don't mean anything. They're just stringing random words together.

It's a lot of personal things that happen to musicians or someone they know, hate for wars and other things, ways to release stress, or dreams and fantasies.

Where is the word "thief" in the post you quote from?

The word is not there so it proves what I said which was;

"your miss unattributed off topic so called aggressive quotes on most topics"

Hotel California is looking at the dark side of American life, hedonism where you can't escape it's grasp, drinking, Stairway to heaven is trying to buy your way there isstead of living a good life

Indeed but as an in depended artist  he sure makes waves. First in the charts and right now at silver with the albumSick Boy. Notice that the OP starts complaining about no new good liricks and when you give it, it's ignored. Others like Maga Yagoda need to show his inability of reading (and others) by flooding 50 years old songs.

Sorry for spamming your thread, Spidey.

This kid's a genius.

Now, can't remember any thing released since 2000, at least, that comes close to thought provoking.

Days of intellectual, question everything, social conscious forming music is long behind us.  Sadly, they are timeless, and not a damn thing has changed.

Last song I heard that gave one a pause for thought was from Jeff Beck, Guitar Shop, and 'Day in the House' track.  A 1989 release :coffee1:

More instrumental and pointing out the obvious ... 'Nothing is being done'

Give my links a try. All I'm asking.

You mean songs that have passed the test of time?

Its Called classics. But you do need to have some music appreciation. Bet you never listened to Frank Zappa

Donovan

Universal Soldier Aug. 13, 1965

He's five foot-two, and he's six feet-four
He fights with missiles and with spears
He's all of thirty-one
And he's only seventeen
He's been a soldier for a thousand years

He's a Catholic, a Hindu, an atheist, a Jain
A Buddhist and a Baptist and a Jew
And he knows he shouldn't kill
And he knows he always will
Kill you for me, my friend, and me for you

And he's fighting for Canada, he's fighting for France
He's fighting for the USA
And he's fighting for the Russians
And he's fighting for Japan
And he thinks we'll put an end to war this way

And he's fighting for democracy, he's fighting for the reds
He says it's for the peace of us all
He's the one who must decide
Who's to live and who's to die
And he never sees the writing on the wall

But without him how would Hitler have condemned him at Libau?
Without him Caesar would have stood alone
He's the one who gives his body
As a weapon of the war
And without him all this killing can't go on

He's the universal soldier, and he really is to blame
His orders come from far away no more
They come from here and there and you and me
And brothers can't you see
This is not the way we put the end to war

The lyrics of Simon & Garfunkle's Sound of Silence were meaningful, if not profound.

Hurt by Nine-Inch Nails was profound, especially when sung by Johnny Cash.

Please try for once to answer a post with a proper response and and stop being an inarticulate grammar policeman,

Please show me where I used the word "thief" in my post!

To help you I have quoted it here;

"Where is the word "thief" in the post you quote from?

Bob Vylan ?

I met a man on my travels
He sold guns for a living
At twelve hundred a pop for a clean one
He was making a killing
Anything to feed the family
Money goes out when the bill's in
Even if it meant killing someone else's children

I said it's hard times in the city
He said, "It's hard times everywhere (Everywhere)
That's why I keep my three-fifth with me
Let 'em try me if they dare"
Said he's aiming it at your chest
He's not aiming it in the air
Flash flood the whole block when he pulls it
Have it raining everywhere

Met a man in my dealings
He fed a habit by stealing
Robbed Peter, but never paid Paul
So both started scheming
Last time that I saw him
You said, "He's been clean for days"
That was one week prior to him being found
Stabbed dead in his flat hallway

I automatically thought about nowadays. Why bring up old and tired lyrics when there is so much good new stuff?

Anyways, try and look at Ren. He is not Bruce Springsteen Amarican vibes but.. ohhh no Bruce is out these days isn't he?

Strange Fruit sung by Billie Holliday was very profound for 1937:
