I can't even imagine this nightmare.   I do think it's good to get a wake-up call on how bad things can get.   Every few years I'll watch something like this.  Unlucky?  Yes.  I have one good Thai friend who is a policeman, but I don't think he could help me in Thai prison.  Maybe if it was in his province.  I know maybe two other policemen who would take my phone call; however, they aren't going to risk losing face over me.  I understand that reality.   I have connections at the State Department, but I don't think they would do anything special for me if I get locked up.   I'm guessing the prisons will try to drain your bank account and everyone's bank account that you know.  I've heard stories that you can pay around 50,000 baht and get someone arrested, maybe worse.   American prisons are also terrible, I'm sure, but this is next level.   This likely isn't the worst.   Maybe not even close.  I'm not going to Central America to find worse.    You drink a few beers, things get out of control, and it's over........

Why is it crap?  Is there more to the story that I don't know?  I watched it months ago and doubted he was being completely honest but thinking it is mostly true.

These places are all over the world including the EU & the USA & Australia and Yes SE Asia. That's why it's SO IMPORTANT TO AVOID TROUBLE  that could put you in the hoosgow anywhere!
