In a peculiar turn of events last night, chaos erupted on Soi Nern Plab Wan, Pattaya, as a man wielding a safety helmet launched an inexplicable attack on passersby. The incident, occurring at 11.06pm on July 14, instantly drew attention as stunned onlookers gathered to witness the drama unfold.

The man, visibly agitated, used a helmet as a weapon, reportedly to gain media attention in a desperate attempt to reunite with his estranged wife. "I want my relatives to see me on the news. I want my wife back," he declared to police and the press.

Among the victims was 52-year-old Somjet, a building maintenance worker, who recounted his harrowing ordeal: "I was just leaving work. He came up to me asking why I was looking at him, then started smacking me with the helmet!"

The attack left Somjet shaken but unharmed as he managed to escape, calling for help as locals intervened. The assailant was eventually cornered in a fast-food restaurant by local authorities, where his bizarre actions were finally halted.

Police arrived swiftly at the scene and found the man ranting incoherently while gripping the helmet. His erratic behaviour prompted questions about his state of mind. Officers are currently uncertain whether he was under the influence of substances or dealing with a mental health issue. The man has been taken to a local hospital for further medical evaluation.

Somjet has been advised to file a formal complaint as investigations continue to uncover more about the man's motivations and mental state. The situation has raised concerns over public safety and the need for mental health support.

This unusual incident not only disrupted a typically peaceful Pattaya street but also highlighted the lengths some individuals might go to seek attention. Authorities are working to ensure such disturbances are handled swiftly to maintain public calm.

The scene has since returned to normalcy, with locals expressing relief that no serious injuries occurred. Police investigations are ongoing, and they are urging anyone with further information to come forward. In the meantime, residents are left pondering the motivations behind such desperate acts.
