July 18, 2025Jul 18 For probably our North American members. My daughter needs to go to New York next month (she will stay about 10 days), so a few questions. -I would like recommendations on which is the best way to travel...East via Tokyo or HK/TPE or West via Dubai/Doha. Basically which is the best direction to travel due to time changes etc. -I would only want one stopover in probably either of the places mentioned above. -Not bothered so much on price, so only reliable airlines. (she will be flying economy). Any info or ideas from any members would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
July 20, 2025Jul 20 There is a direct flight from SIN to JFK via Singapore Air (SQ24). There is also a fight from SIN to EWR (SQ22). The fight time is between 17 and 19 hours. It's on an Airbus 350-900 with only business class and extended economy seating. The cost is between $1,100 and $1,500.
July 24, 2025Jul 24 Do you prefer Newark or JFK? (I think the huge number of delays at EWR have been reduced). Is NYC the final destination? Right now I'd probably go via Eva Airlines (BR) BKK-TPE-JFK - no concerns about the Middle East situation, no domestic U.S. connections, avoid EWR.
July 24, 2025Jul 24 Theory says that Jetlag westbound is less severe than eastbound. So if priority is having easier time in New York then flying with Emirates westbound would be an option. Looks like they have two(!) nonstop Dubai - New York flights of about 14h duration (A380). Bangkok Dubai is about 6.x hours. For exact schedules I would have to check on the desktop. Too much fiddling on the mobile.

Ultra long haul 16h. Quite reasonably priced. Shortest total travel time of all, 20:35 if you risk layover of 1:20 in HongKong.
