Stella

I went to 7-11 and bought a can of Stella Artois for a change. I went home and drank the beer. It tasted nothing like Stella Artois and tasted somewhere between Chang and Tiger. Stella Artois has a very distinctive taste. I looked at the label. It was brewed in Zhangzhou in Fujian in China. I won't be doing that again.

Quite possibly, tge Stella sold in Belgium today is also shipped out of factories from China. Less production cost, more profits.

Water differences and different sourcing can have the same beer tasting different, even with the same brewing style. NYC pizza is always among the best, a lot of the reason being the low mineral content of water there.

If I wanted pizza, I would have asked for pizza! (adapted from the Tizer advert)

Stella Artois - reassuringly expensive (snigger) not any more it's brewed in China.

Serves you right. All lagers taste the same to me.

Old speckled hen is also brewed in China.

Made the same mistake with Stella too, if I am not mistaken, there is even something on the can that cons you into thinking this is the real McCoy! and yes, it is a terrible drink, with no excuses really as Tsing Tao beers can be really good beer, so it isn't as if there isn't the skill (albeit taught by the Germans)

Stella also known as the wife beater brew... Horrid stuff.

Belgium beers are great

Just googled, unless you are in the EU, you are not going to get Belgium-brewed guaranteed.

Does not surprise me that it is brewed in China. Cheapest Asian location

Water. Yep probably the reason for the different tasting Stella. and people berate you NYC Pizza reference without understanding chemistry.

Two important factors determining taste of food are ingredients and processing. Water is only one of many possible factors. I’m a food chemist.

Stella is a horrible beer. It used to be a little palatable when it was 5%, but now in the UK it's 4.5% it tastes nothing like before. Disgusting stuff.

Still brewed in Leuven, Belgium 🙂

5.5 % in the rest of the world, where people can hold their liquor... 😂 Still one of the best lagers.

Stella is Belgian... but breweries worldwide, unfortunately. Try a stella in Belgium...superb lager.

Interesting to know. The UK are reducing volumes on many beers now to reduce taxes, making many undrinkable. It's got nothing to do about people unable to hold their liquor lol
