Good part of why I didn't retire in USA ... that, and already spending 45 years there, and 17 of those, working for airlines, so saw a good part of the country, since only 2 trips outside of the Americas.

Weather patterns+ ... no thanks

If they offered me a free house, car, and a monthly stipend, I would NOT return to the U.S. First of all, it isn't the U.S. now. There is nothing 'united' about America today. Not the people, not

  • So much drama in your response. First of all, no one will offer you free car, house and money. You are not required to eat out in restaurants.    What I do dislike about paying for take out

In the United States, even undocumented immigrants are protected by the Constitution. They have the right to Due Process under the Law.  That is NOT being given to them.  The U.S. Constitution,

Thats what I dont understand. If you dont like it somewhere, dont go, or leave.

I wonder if there is a correlation between hating the USA and the inability to afford living there.

I'm guessing they detained illegal aliens? You know who else detains illegal aliens and puts them into crowded cages? that's right, Thailand and why shouldn't they? We're all expected to follow the laws and it's not asking too much.

They detained citizens also who don't look like Europeans. Once detained, one has to prove that the detainee is a citizen because he does not look like Europeans.

The map is pretty good though. Id move some lines for North AZ and Southern Utah and Nevada for great scenery, maybe drop the cold down to Southern Idaho.

The problem with the West are the distances in the cites and between the cities. Nothing sucks more than having to drive 200 miles for an oil change.

Who did? Where? Examples?

Silly expensive.  Went to the big island once, 1980, not impressed at all.  Like S. FL, Mexico & Caribbean better.   Though 25 yrs later, probably wouldn't recognize them now.

This is his way of saying, I surrender.

This will be the last time I respond to you. I will be promptly putting on my ignore list, as you seem to have absolutely nothing of value to say.

You mistake hating the USA for hating what's going on IN the USA by the current administration and the rabid MAGAs. We still love our country. We just hate what you've done to it in the past six months.

Excuse me? Your goal is to make people dislike you enough to ignore you?

Wow!
And people ask what it is that I can't understand about MAGAs!  That's hysterical! Or... at least it would be if it weren't so sad.

You havent lived in the US for too long to still have an opinion anymore. You are scared of guns while driving next to people who turn into animals behind the wheel

Born and raised on the Big Island, one of only three places on earth would ever consider living. 1980 the Big Island was still pretty slow and quiet, no traffic lights in Kailua, Hilo was a country town by today’s standards. Now, Kailua is completely congested and overcrowded and Hilo is sprawling and not to mention the meth epidemic on the island. Though old Hawaii still exists there where family still live, rural, not much different than rural th.

I am planning on going back at some point. I don't want to spend my elderly years in a foreign country. In order to return, however, I want to buy a property in the Usa. I'm thinking in Northern California or Nevada in the Lake Tahoe area. I'm not sure how realistic it is. Property prices will probably need to crash to make it possible for me financially.

So if I promise never to put you on my ignore list (which, btw, is empty) will you go away?

You need to concentrate on thumbs downs. That shows you are winning.

Got it. You hate:

Closure of the border to illegal immigration

Arrest and deportation of criminal aliens

Investment into America

The destruction of Iran

the elimination of child genital mutilation

Sorry you are disappointed

As someone who is house hunting, thats not a small bump in the road.

Folks outside the USA dont seem to realize how bad the weather can be in the USA, simply as a function of geography and size. Even areas that usually are safe, arent (like western NC). Then if the weather is decent, or liveable, the Government sucks. Some places have bad weather and bad government (Seattle, Chicago)

I have been looking at the areas around the Southern Appalachians myself. Not too cold, not to hot (depending), not too much government {Ohio, Ky, TN, NC, SC, WV, northern GA). Im even thinking about VA now that the wokeness has been banished.

TN has no income tax, which is good.   NC is getting expensive due to the Yankees escaping the blue northern states.  SC is weird.  The Valley of SW VA has some lovely towns.  I'm in the Northern Valley.    The area around Lynchburg, VA, has low housing prices.  GA is hot.

The Lake Tahoe area is expensive these days.

Most of the Yankees stay East of Charlotte. The coast is getting big. I like those mountain areas around TN, I really should study Va more, the economy is going to take off. Too much influence from the DC crowd tho...

A few mid-western states are giving free lands in rural towns to build homes and stay in the US. Anybody planning to go back to the US with their social security? Property taxes are "alleged" to be in "hundreds" only.  And in rural Kansas one can build a house for $125K. Walmart and hospitals are within 30 minutes drive.

Where can you build a house for $125K to the specs these towns require in order to qualify for their land giveaways?

BS

I liked Kansas okay, but I'm not moving back anytime soon.

I'm in Colorado now until the end of August. Once you get a few miles east of the mountains it's flat, dry, desolate plains for hundreds of miles and all the way into Kansas and beyond. This is extremely undesirable land if you ask me but people still keep build in Colorado since there's work to be had.

To be fair though most of Thailand is boring, flat desolate rice fields so maybe Kansas isn't that bad. You'd be really isolated though and reliant on cooking food bought on your weekly trip to the nearest city.  Freezing cold in the winters too and strong winds that can blow you over on foot.

Plenty of room for guns, god and Boebert. Hard pass.

No, it is not BS. Open your eyes, MAGA.

A member of my staff has family in the US. The mother is naturalized, the children US born and raised. They were picked up by ICE because 'they looked different' and held for several days. The mother's phone was taken and she was questioned as to whether she ever posted anything critical of Trump on social media, as if the US now has lese majeste laws.

I really don't think that was the only mistake ICE has made, and that it was just pure coincidence that I happen to employ a woman whose family experienced this outrage.

That is fascism, pure and simple, and seems to be something MAGAboys like.
