I remember back in the day when this industry used to claim that the matches were real sporting contests and not scripted exhibitions.

Then the New Jersey tax authorities wanted to tax them in the same manner as boxing contests. Suddenly the wrestlers broke kayfabe and admitted it was all fake.

Can't think a more phony "sport".

Soccer?

Though not a fan of his "sport" which wasn't actually a sport or his vile maga politics but he was good at the role he played. Basically a comic book character. I think for kids and very immature adults.

Had the pleasure of meeting Hulk and his wife in Miami Beach one night.  Very gracious guy.  He was seated on a couch in a lounge and reached out to greet us—with the biggest, longest arms I’d ever seen.

Not sure what you're meaning.

Death at 70++ isn't unusual, it's a natural state. I am 77, I am still fit and consider myself lucky. The desperate desire to be 'young', to be careful and get checkups, for what? To turn the clock back perhaps. After 70 one is old and should consider death calmly with acceptance. As the Buddha said "All is impermanent, transitory". Scurrying around hospital waiting rooms isn't going to delay the inevitable, even the cleanest bill of health won't make you immortal but it may make the doctor wealthier.

His whole schtik was to be a larger than life cartoon character. Kids loved him. A whole generation of kids grew up on him. He was a celebrity 24/7 with a certain persona, but he never was an <deleted> to people.

He was one of those rich guys who just randomly gave money away

His body went through a LOT.....

Many conflicting reports about what kind of person he was....

He was definitely a stellar showman.....

RIP

How is that a young age ? 71 is not a young age by any objective definition.

Kinda depends on from which side you're looking at it!  🙂

Yep, you’re intimidated!

Most leftists are quite easily.

By you?  Not in the slightest and you won't find many who are less "left" than I!

Sure, people over the age of 60 are considered "old", but it is still relatively young compared to the total US population.  Although the life expectancy of the US male is now approx. 77 1/2 years, if one manages to reach age 70, the life expectancy is age 83 and a bit.  So, yes, relatively, young for his age group.  He would have had another 12 years or more to go.  The life expectancy tables in the USA show that if  males manage to survive to an old age, they are likely to  die at an even older age than the norm.  If  the man had been age 81, he would have been expected to last until age 88+ years of age. Had he made it to 91, he was expected to survive to  94 1/2 years.   https://www.ssa.gov/oact/STATS/table4c6.html

It's not a sport.

It's entertainment.

But real sports actually decided to copy their model and many real sports are also rigged because they decided they can make more money by making it into an entertainment.

Ie the quarter-back who wins 5 consecutive super bowls .... now you have created a "legend" much like Hulk Hogan.
