A fire broke out in the early hours of the morning of 25 July, destroying eight homes in a densely populated community in Khlong Toei district, leaving two people injured and 15 others displaced.

The blaze erupted at approximately 01:50, in the Nong Mai community on At Narong Road, located in the Khlong Toei area of Bangkok. Pol. Lt. Tanit Kongwiboonsiri, an investigator from Thung Maha Mek Police Station, received the emergency call and rushed to the scene with local firefighters and rescue teams.

The fire spread rapidly through the closely built wooden houses, with the narrow alleyways making firefighting efforts more challenging. Firefighters deployed water hose-lines down the narrow alleyways and worked for around 60 minutes before bringing the blaze under control, preventing further spread to adjacent premises.

Initial reports confirmed that eight homes were completely destroyed. One person suffered a foot injury from broken glass, while another was treated for smoke inhalation. Fifteen residents were affected by the fire and efforts are underway to provide temporary shelter in coordination with the Khlong Toei District Office.

Investigators are currently working with the Forensic Science Division to determine the exact cause of the fire.
