Seven More Tragic Deaths in Gaza: Malnutrition Crisis Deepens

In a grim update, the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza has reported seven additional deaths from malnutrition in the past 24 hours. This brings the total death toll from malnutrition in the conflict-stricken region to 154, with 89 children among the casualties. The ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, which reignited in October 2023, has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the besieged territory.

Experts in food security, backed by the UN, are raising the alarm, warning that a catastrophic famine is currently occurring in Gaza. Despite assurances from Israel that aid is entering the territory unrestricted, European allies, the UN, and active agencies in Gaza dispute these claims. The dire situation has prompted US special envoy Steve Witkoff to schedule a trip to Israel on Thursday, marking his first visit in nearly three months, to discuss the escalating crisis.

Reports from Gaza further highlight the chaos, indicating that six Palestinians were reportedly killed near an aid distribution centre in Rafah. While hospital sources claim that Israeli tank fire caused the deaths, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) denies that any killings occurred at their location. The Israel Defense Force (IDF) has refuted the casualty figures, asserting that any military action was intended to disperse a threatening gathering, reported BBC.

Tensions over aid deliveries remain high, as only 109 aid lorries made it into Gaza on Tuesday. However, many were looted before reaching their destinations. Desperate scenes unfolded, with crowds overrunning vehicles to secure flour, either for personal use or to sell. The UN estimates that a minimum of 600 aid trucks per day is necessary to begin alleviating the crisis.

The situation worsened after Israel imposed a total blockade in March, which followed a two-month ceasefire break and renewed hostilities that were prompted by a Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023. Though the blockade has partially eased, shortages of essential supplies remain critical. Israeli forces initiated their offensive as a direct response to the attack, which resulted in 1,200 Israeli deaths and 251 hostages.

In parallel, diplomatic tensions have flared after British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer pledged to recognise a Palestinian state unless Israel agrees to a ceasefire and revitalises talks on a two-state solution. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned the UK's stance as rewarding Hamas' terrorism, while a British-Israeli ex-hostage criticised Starmer's position as potentially incentivising terror activities.

As the humanitarian and diplomatic crises deepen, the international community continues to grapple with finding a path to peace and alleviating the suffering of Gaza's populace.

The wealthy muslim oil countries haven't done a thing.  If the muslims in Gaza turn on Hamas big time, and have all hostages released,  their misery would be over quickly.

Not so fast. The objective is to clear the region of Palestinians for the greater Israel plan. Oct7 gave them what they’ve been asking for - reasons to speed up the ethnic cleansing. The way it’s going it is doubtful they will succeed.

There is no such thing as a Palestinian state, and there never should be. The Palestinians, or Philistines as they were originally called, are neither liked nor trusted anywhere in the Middle East. Let Israel deal with them as it sees fit following the murder of it's men, women, children and babies by Palestinians on 7 October 2023.

At least 30 killed by Israeli fire while waiting for aid, Gaza civil defence ministry says

Israeli gunfire killed at least 30 Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid in northern Gaza on Wednesday, according to the Hamas-run civil defence agency.

A Gaza civil defence spokesperson told the AFP news agency that Israeli fire wounded around 300 more people. Israel said details of the incident "are still being examined".

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said they fired "warning shots" after Gazans gathered around aid trucks 3km southwest of the Zikim crossing, but they were "not aware of any casualties" from IDF gunfire.

Its usually Hamas attacking the food distribution points and IDF shooting Hamas to deter theft

How annoying that I have agree with you.

Hamas are desperate to control food supplies as it is one of their few, dwindling leverages against a starving population. People receiving aid from non-Hamas aid points weaken them and there are certainly reports they have being shooting at, if not killing people trying obtain that aid.

For their part the IDF have confirmed they are firing at targets near to these no Hamas aid points.....presumably Hamas.

The same story posted twice within six minutes of each other .

I expect the same story will be posting again by someone else soon .

Couldn't there be some organisation on ASEANNOW  with stories only being posted once ?

Horrific situation all round.....and as usual, it is the civilian population that seem to suffer the most in any conflict.

They will be able to view Gaza from their new beach front hotels along the strip and look out the back windows and see Trumps new golf course

Israel has done the world's dirty work for them because none of them have the means or gumption to do it... terrorist states should be taken out. Even the other Arab countries are now calling for Hamas to disarm and surrender control of the Gaza strip to the Palestine authorities in the West Bank, which is what should happen.

What people forget (especially the naive new types) is that there should already be a "Palestine" and a two-state solution... Clinton almost did it in the 90s and the Israelis at the time under Barak agreed, just that Arafat said "No" as he couldn't let go of the hate.

As far as Hamas is concerned... you reap what you sow and this is a glaring example of it.

Do you really expect to go and read the whole Bible just to find out what it says about the Philistines ?

Maybe your ludicrous assertion that the Philistines came from Greece was intended to be a joke. Anyway, if you are interested, it won't do you any harm to read at least parts of the Bible. To make it easy for you, the Philistines occupied parts of the coastal region of Canaan, and later Babylon. They have never settled anywhere.

There is evidence to suggest that the Philistines originated from a Greek immigrant group from the Aegean

And where does the truth and the facts for his story come from. As usual he provides NO proof or links to confirm his post and he is heavily biased in favour of Israel.

That is the same old story that the IDF trot out, time after time, day after day.

Deny every time and perhaps somebody will believe it. Don't you find it strange that Israel will NOT allow foreign journalists into Gaza under ANY circumstances?

What are the trying to hide from the world?

   Heres some evidence for you

"Gangs and merchants sell food aid in Gaza, where Israel’s offensive has shattered security

Since Israel’s offensive led to a security breakdown in Gaza that has made it nearly impossible to safely deliver food to starving Palestinians, much of the limited aid entering is being hoarded by gangs and merchants and sold at exorbitant prices"

You obviously know nothing about the deal Clinton offered.

There was serious momentum toward a two-state solution in the 1990s. Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat signed the Oslo Accords – a historic step toward peace.
Rabin believed in a negotiated two-state solution and was willing to take major risks to achieve it. Tragically, he was assassinated in 1995 by an Israeli extremist who opposed the peace process.

While Rabin’s assassin acted alone, many say that right-wing politicians and protest movements created the conditions for the assassination. Notably, Benjamin Netanyahu, then the opposition leader, appeared at rallies where Rabin was portrayed as a traitor and Nazi collaborator. Those events included inflammatory imagery and slogans. Netanyahu failed to condemn the hate-fueled rhetoric and inflamed tensions. After Rabin’s murder, Netanyahu came to power shortly after – and many believe the peace process lost its most credible Israeli advocate.

At the 2000 Camp David Summit, President Clinton and Prime Minister Ehud Barak made another attempt at peace. The deal left several core Palestinian demands unresolved, especially on East Jerusalem, borders, and refugees' right of return and full sovereignty. Arafat was also under immense pressure from within the Palestinian movement and across the Arab world – and likely feared the political fallout of accepting terms seen as inadequate.Clinton had already sold out to the Israel lobbyists in the US with his largest donors being:-

Haim Saban – Israeli-American media mogul, with a strong pro-Israel stance.

George Soros – Hungarian-American financier of Jewish heritage.

Steven Spielberg – the Pro-Israeli filmmaker.
