I am only saying, not to be disparaging, that talking to anyone with less than a 135 IQ is probably a waste of your time.   So much wasted time....just... Trying to get through the mush

So come on what's your IQ (isn't that the question your post wanted?).

What's the point talking to anyone with less than a GENIUS IQ?

Seriously?

It is critical to have a good grasp of what the morons are thinking......for one, there's lots of them and two, knowledge is power.

I regularly read the comments section in the Daily Express and the Daily mail......not talking as such, but a valuable insight into the minds of those that don't think.

I have known several highly intelligent people who had absolutely miserable lives.

The IQ of a person is less relevant to me than the factor of common interests.

Exactly, the common interest and sort of same manners and language.

being with people using offensive language, and in general rude to other people usually put me off and makes me uncomfortable. Especially socializing going out, and they start being abusive for any reasons.

I have often wondered the same thing. I just assume that anyone who is able to use social media is highly intelligent.  This, apparently, is not the case.

Are you saying that Musk's young life, as told by the author, is not somewhat like a myth?

If you say so.

I love Musk, but I think the book is just a bit based on myth.

I do not object to this.

Yet, I am aware of it.

That's your opinion.

And, if so, then you must have too much time on your hands.

Musk have turned from being a genius to be a dangerous genius with to much power and resources. Not even Trump can stop him now without damaging USA future goals

That really doesn't make much sense, much Iike reading the comments in the Express.....oh dear...are you a regular contributor ?

Agreed. I am interested in many things, except small talk. I like interesting conversations other than the same old questions ('where are you from?', 'what football team do you like?', etc.)... 🥱

Perl is my favorite language.

"Practical Extraction and Reporting Language."

But, what is it really good for?

It's good for Glue Code.

Guys who love Linux used to love Perl.

Just a pearl of wisdom here.

And, ALL my topics contain pearls.

Pearls dissolve in the vinegar of ASEAN discourse.

I was once a regular contributor.

But, all that stopped, some time ago, as you now....

Probably just due to the simple fact that I get so very many "thumbs down" emojis....

And precious few likes.

In fact, as you must be aware....

Morons hate me.

And, this simpleton fact makes me feel lonely...

Almost every day.

I will never recover....

Not unless I return to uni....

Maybe I will return to Penn, and follow in Noam's footsteps....

So, first Penn, and then MIT....

There is still time for me.

If you are going to start a thread complaining about the IQ of people you talk to on ASEAN, you do need to make certain there are no blots on your own escutcheon.

I do like lemon soda, and Branston pickle with my ham and cheese sandwiches. I draw the line at Campari.

Incredible.

Did you REALLY think that this is what this Topic is about???????

NO.

It is NOT about what you think.

Do you know the difference between talking, writing, reading, and listening?

I think there is no point in talking to anyone with less than a genius IQ.

TALKING, I said.

This has ZERO to do with anyone here....really.

ZERO....

It has more to do with hanging out with smart guys, just to be entertained....

In the REAL world, and NOT in the virtual world.

Here is why:

How much time is wasted with those who have a sub-Genius IQ?

Answer:  A huge amount of time.  Just trying to explain anything to sub-Geniuses uses up too much of one's time.

You say it once.

They say...what?

You say it again....

They say....what?

Who has time for this...in the Real World.....?

I have plenty of time in the virtual world, because there is nobody asking me.....WHAT?

This is also the difference between reading a book, an scholarly article, a short story by Cheever....and....

Talking to somebody....

When reading, you can skim, or skip, which is not a waste of time.

When listening to the radio, like NPR, you gots to wade through the drivel, linearly.

This takes a huge amount of time, and most of it is wasted.

SO, Sir, now you have finally grasped the true MEANING of this important Topic.

Good....!!!!

(It's NOT about anyone here, or on any other forums.)

I once used an escutcheon to protect my private parts while fencing.

Then, I retired it, and it hangs, still, there at my uni.

So much wasted time....just...

Trying to get through the mush.

Like slogging through the underbrush in a very dense forest.

There is really no point, because....

One never gets....ANYWHERE.

I am sure you know what I am talking about.....

Might just as well stay completely SILENT, in fact....
Which is what I do, most of the time.

Would you be able to converse at the same level with someone that has an IQ of 135 or above?

NO.

Definitely, not.

However, 145 and above....then YES!!!

When we think about general intelligence, often it's a matter of a wide range of knowledge about almost anything, and everything.

This is why it is so easy to talk to people with an IQ of 145, and above.

My best friend scored a DOUBLE 800 on the 1970 SATs....

Back in the day when the SAT was open-ended.

We got along fine.

We drove from Philly to the Old-Gold-Mountain...meaning SF, California.

Jiu = Old

Jin - Gold

Shan = Mountain.

NOW, do you get the picture?

I have never been intimidated by super-smart humans.

But, when I would show them my 44 Magnum, they were often intimidate by me.

In fact, one day, I got in my car, and drove down to south side of City Hall in Philly.

I gave a ride to two young black girls who were hanging out down there, at about 2:00 AM....with nothing to do, seemingly.

They asked me for a ride in my car, back to Collegeville.

I said, why not.

But then, when they got to my house, and got out of my car, and into my living room...

I showed them my gun, a Browning semi-automatic.

Those girls took a fright, and asked me to drive them back to the safe city.

On the way, after I sobered up, I began to realize that those two girls were not girls.

Each she was a he.

Still, they tried to make it up to me, for all my trouble, during the ride back....

About 30 miles, on the Expressway.

We passed by Boat House Row, when they began to really lean into me.....

And, it was like the final ending of a crew race, when you go past the grandstands...

With everyone cheering....

Stroke, Stroke, Stroke.....the coxswain yelled, in my head.

And then, huffing and puffing, we finally reached City Hall...

And I dropped them off.

And, after about 10 years, I sold that beautiful Browning Rifle at a loss, on consignment...because...

At the time of the sale, I was in Taiwan.

So, yes, I can talk to guys with an IQ of 145.

I have done this several times.

Everyone has some expertise in something. Especially in Thailand where they are rather self sufficient. Get out of your books and learn something. Einstein did not fix nis own car.

Well, smart guys do not like to repeat themselves to often, and therefore lack topics to talk about in the long run.

Smart guys do not socialize to much unless there is a common ground they have interest in, and that’s a problem if you do not like to hang out at the local pub every day or do not have any hobbies or interests that is involving more than two.

If you weren’t social where you origin from, it will not be more easy in Thailand, if not you walk the streets in tourists areas and willing to discuss the same topics as yesterday, the day before, and last year.

That’s Achilles for most men who grow older,
