Police arrested 23 people in the early hours of 4 August after raiding an illegal dice gambling den in the Huai Khwang district of Bangkok.

At approximately 00:30, officers from Huai Khwang Police Station and the Metropolitan Police Division 1, led by Pol. Col. Prasopchok Iampinit and Pol. Col. Wichai Sansakul, carried out the operation at an unregistered rented room near Meng Jai intersection on Pracha Uthit Road, Sam Sen Nok Subdistrict.

Inside the premises, officers discovered a group of men and women actively participating in a game of hi-lo (a traditional dice gambling game). Mr. Ratchasak  who admitted to organising the game and acting as the banker, told police the operation had only been running for three days prior to the raid.

Authorities arrested 14 men and 9 women, seizing gambling paraphernalia including one set of dice and a betting cup, a score board and ฿5,370 in cash.

All suspects were charged with “jointly participating in unauthorised gambling for monetary gain” and taken to Huai Khwang Police Station for further legal proceedings.

The crackdown is part of an ongoing effort by Thai police to curb illegal gambling activities in the capital.
