Thailand Rejects Cambodian Claims of Assassination Plot Against Hun Sen and Hun Manet

Thailand has strongly denied allegations from Cambodia that it plotted to assassinate Senate President Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet. The claims, reportedly based on “foreign intelligence,” surfaced on Cambodian social media and news outlets just as both nations were holding sensitive General Border Committee talks. Thai Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nikorndej Balankura dismissed the accusations as “baseless” and politically motivated, warning that spreading false narratives risks undermining goodwill and ongoing diplomatic efforts. Bangkok reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful dialogue and urged Cambodia to avoid actions that could inflame border tensions. Cambodia’s leadership has not issued an official statement, though local media speculation continues.
