Mystery Surrounds Sergeant Major's Death in Chao Phraya River

In Bangkok, the body of 41-year-old Sergeant Major Phudit Udomsilp was tragically discovered floating in the Chao Phraya River near Wat Arun pier, prompting an investigation into the mysterious circumstances of his death.

 

Police believe his death occurred more than 48 hours before his body was found, adding urgency to the ongoing investigation led by officers from Pak Khlong San Police Station. Responding swiftly, they collaborated with forensic specialists from Siriraj Hospital and the Poh Teck Tung Foundation to examine the scene.

 

Rescue teams using a Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation water patrol boat retrieved the body, bringing it ashore at the Phra Phutthayotfa Bridge. The deceased was clothed in a long-sleeved navy shirt, light khaki trousers, and white trainers. Preliminary assessments revealed no visible signs of struggle or injuries, deepening the mystery.

 

Identification documents confirmed the deceased’s identity as Sergeant Major Phudit Udomsilp. His death, estimated to have occurred at least 48 hours earlier, has left many questions unanswered. Authorities have sent the body to Siriraj Hospital’s forensic department for a thorough autopsy to ascertain the precise cause of death.

 

Efforts are also underway to contact Sergeant Major Phudit’s family to facilitate the receipt of his body and make arrangements for religious ceremonies.

 

While the investigation continues, the sudden loss of the sergeant major under such perplexing circumstances has sent ripples through the community. The police are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward.
