In a move to enhance community-level engagement and promote smart waste management, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has partnered with Technology Volunteers (อสท.) to support its campaign “This House Separates Waste” and encourage residents to use the BKK WASTE PAY application.

The initiative was officially launched on August 6, by Mr. Thossaphol Suparee, Deputy Director of the Environment Department, who presided over an online training session at the BMA’s Environmental Office in Din Daeng. The session, attended by 50 participants from the BMA’s Social Development Department and volunteer network, focused on the operation and benefits of the BKK WASTE PAY digital platform.

The BKK WASTE PAY app is a key part of BMA’s digital transformation in waste fee management. Designed to modernize and simplify the process, the platform offers a transparent and efficient solution for waste fee payments, reducing paper usage and bureaucracy. Features include QR and barcode payment options, bill tracking, user account management, property location updates and access to benefits for registered users.

Residents can register through four channels:

1. The BKK WASTE PAY mobile application

2. The BKK WASTE PAY website

3. Local sanitation offices in their district

4. Waste fee collectors equipped with handheld devices

The training aimed to equip the volunteers with a thorough understanding of the platform’s concept, purpose and functionality. Volunteers were taught how to guide citizens through account creation, registration and app usage. The goal is for them to serve as “Digital Ambassadors”, supporting community members in adopting the app and participating in the “This House Separates Waste” program, which incentivises waste separation with potential fee reductions.

Through this collaboration, BMA is reinforcing its commitment to digital governance and sustainable urban living by empowering communities with the tools and knowledge needed to manage waste more effectively.
