Hi all, I'm new to the forum, it's very impressive! I'm hoping someone can help me - I'm coming out in September to support my Dad who's being treated for cancer at Sattahip Naval Hospital. Are there any decent hotels near to the hospital? I'm finding it impossible to get any info from the hospital!

Any ideas greatly appreciated. :o

I'm sorry I can't give you details of particular places, but I do know there are beach resorts all the way down the coast from Pattaya to Sattahip, so if you can't find an hotel in the town, you won't need to go too far to find resort style accommodation.

Hello,

there is a Hotel in walking (less then a km) distance of the Queen Sirikit Hospital. It is the Swan Lake Hotel. I never stayed there, but heard it would be not so nice.... Its also in walking distance of a disco and quit a few Karaoke Bars :o.

In Ban Chang, which is aprox. 8km distance from the Hospital are a few Hotels and resorts. Some on the beach. Maybe better you stay there and rent a moped to drive to the Hospital.

Traffic in that area is easy manageable.

Thanks for all this info, it's really helpful. I'm looking for somewhere fairly nice, with a pool as the family are coming with me - looks like Ban Chang area would be a good bet. Price range anything up to $100 per night would be fine.

It's so helpful to have local knowledge!

Rayong resort near Rayong and Sea Sand Sun (between Pattaya and Sattahip ) are both very nice, right on the beach and about 3400 baht each.

They are both about a 20 minute drive from the hospital.

The Navy have hotels in Sattahip, outside of the base close to the Sattahip village.

I have stayed there and booked through familymembers that are thai navyofficers.

The hotels I tried was clean, safe and very cheap.

I´m shure the military will let you book since your father is on their hospital.

Best luck to you and your father.

The Ban Chang Palace is OK stayed there many times when working in Sattahip. Nice pool, restaurant, and entertainment most evenings. Not sure what the rates are now but no way near $100, I was paying about 500 Baht per night on a corporate deal.

thanks tuffy, they both look great.

Following on from Uwe's tip I've also found two in Ban Chang - Phala Cliff & Purimas. The websites look nice but reviews on Trip Advisor are mixed - anyone been to either recently?

Purimas is nice... a quiet location right on the beach, swimming pool, clean rooms and good service. They regularly have business conferences there. The restaurant has a mix of both Thai and western food, so your family would have a good choice of diet.

I don't know what the room rates are though.
