Police in Bangkok have arrested a 31-year-old man who beat his wife to death after she refused to let him look through her mobile phone. The suspect later claimed remorse and waited at the scene to surrender.

On 7 August, Pol Col Natchaphisit Siangwan, Superintendent of Romklao Police Station, ordered Pol Lt Col Sayomphu Kuljittisirodom, Deputy Superintendent, and Pol Lt Col Prasert Sathornrat, Deputy Superintendent of Operations, along with investigative officers, to arrest the suspect, identified only as “Mr A”. He was taken into custody at his home in Soi Keha Romklao 29, Khlong Song Ton Nun, Lat Krabang District.

The arrest followed a report to Romklao Police Radio at around 13:00 of a domestic dispute at a house in the same soi. Upon arrival, officers found Mr A standing outside the property.

He told police he had argued with his 30-year-old wife, identified as “Ms B”, after demanding to see her phone. When she refused, he attacked her, punching, kicking and stamping on her until she lost consciousness. He then attempted CPR but was unable to revive her and she was later pronounced dead.

The victim’s body has now been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine to determine the precise cause of death.

Mr A has been charged with assault causing death and is being held for further investigation before facing further charges.
