A dramatic rescue unfolded on the afternoon of 9 August, when a foreign tourist was spotted precariously standing on the edge of a balcony at a beachfront hotel in Pattaya, apparently threatening to jump.

Hotel staff and guests were left shocked as the man, believed to be in his mid-30s, climbed onto the balcony railing of his high-floor room, gripping the outer edge while staring down at the street below. Eyewitnesses said he appeared agitated and was speaking incoherently.

Security personnel rushed to the scene and alerted Pattaya City Police and emergency services. Officers and rescue workers arrived within minutes and began negotiating with the man from inside the room, while others stood ready with safety equipment and inflatable air bags below.

After over 90 tense minutes, police managed to pull the man back to safety. He was immediately escorted to the hotel lobby, where medics assessed his physical condition before transferring him to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Authorities have not released the man’s identity or nationality but confirmed that he was a registered guest at the hotel. Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the incident, including whether alcohol, drugs or personal problems may have been factors.

Hotel management praised the swift response of staff and emergency teams, which prevented what could have been a fatal tragedy.

First time I've heard of an airbag being deployed for a Pattaya Freefall Club wannabe.

I bet it looks about the size of a postage stamp from anything higher than level 3. :coffee1:

You would be lucky to land on it safely, but at least an effort

Yes, worked as a stuntman for three years in my youth, that's very small, did high falls from 15 meters and five times bigger pad looked like a matchbox

I bet he just needed some attention, and the chance to cry his heart out for a while. Looked like he almost climbed down himself as soon as somebody touched his shorts.
