A 28-year-old Russian man, who has not been named, narrowly avoided colliding with a Pattaya rescue station base, while driving recklessly, early morning on 10 August.

At around 04:20, the man was driving a black MG car at high speed and lost control, mounting the pavement and coming dangerously close to a rescue booth, with staff inside and an emergency ambulance, belonging to the Sawangboriboon Foundation in the Naklua area.

After the near-miss, he fled the scene and entered a nearby petrol station, where rescue workers intercepted him and alerted the police. Authorities found the driver to be intoxicated and he admitted to consuming alcohol and smoking cannabis.

The police have took the man for a breathalyser test and will proceed with legal action in accordance with the law.
