At midnight on 10 August, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Radio Centre in Pattaya received an emergency call reporting an assault in Soi Wat Boonsampan 15. Rescue volunteers and Police officers promptly responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found Mr Pichets Naruenram, 44, a construction contractor, injured with a large open wound on his head and bleeding heavily across his face. Rescue workers provided first aid before urgently transporting him to hospital. The assailants were not present at the scene.

Mr Pichets recounted that after work, he went to play snooker with friends at a local venue. During the game, he had an argument with a group of youths at a neighbouring table. Concerned the dispute might escalate, he decided to stop playing and leave. However, as he was leaving to get into his vehicle, 2 or 3 youths suddenly approached and attacked him with metal rods and stones, striking his head.

Mr Phitsanu Thapburi, 26, a junior colleague who was with Mr Pichets, explained that they were both playing snooker at the same place as the attackers. After the argument and a shove from Mr Pichets towards one of the youths, sensing trouble, they decided to leave. At that moment, the youths confronted and assaulted Mr Pichets. Mr Phitsanu managed to escape by motorcycle and returned to his accommodation before alerting authorities.

Police officers at the scene recorded photographic evidence and once the victim has formally file a complaint, they will pursue legal action against the perpetrators.

I wouldn't like to be the trenches with Mr Phitsanu.
