Rescue workers were called out in the early hours to capture a giant python that had damaged the ceiling of a townhouse in Sai Noi District, after the enormous snake crashed through the ceiling panels and disappeared inside the house.

At around 03:00 on 13 August, emergency services received a report from 21-year-old Mr. Chanachon Kaewphuang, who spotted the large snake after it had  fallen from the ceiling of his family home in the Nanti-cha Project 3/8 housing estate. Upon arrival, rescuers found the ceiling panel in the kitchen area had collapsed, but the python had already slithered away.

Mr. Chanachon captured photographs of the python, which was estimated to be 4.2 metres long and weighing over 30 kilograms. Concerned for the safety of residents, the rescue team and neighbours conducted a thorough search throughout the house.

The python was eventually found coiled in a gap between walls at the rear of the neighbouring property. Rescue workers carefully removed metal roofing sheets to safely capture the snake.

Mr. Chanachon said he initially heard a loud noise from his bedroom and thought his sister had knocked something over in the kitchen. Upon investigating, he discovered the ceiling panel had fallen and spotted the giant python. Startled, he fled the room but returned to photograph the snake and call for help. This was the first time the family had encountered a snake inside their home.
