AT&T $177 million settlement: You could receive up to $7,500

AT&T will pay $177 million in a class action settlement related to separate alleged data breaches last year.

In one incident, dated March 30, 2024, some customers' vulnerable data, including addresses, social security numbers, birthdates, passcodes, billing numbers and phone numbers were released on the dark web, according to a news release by Kroll Settlement Administration.

The telecommunication company was also accused of an incident on July 12, 2024, where limited data was illegally downloaded. Some of the breached information included customers and other users associated with the account, as well as the numbers they interacted with.

With the DOGE cheques, the tariff bonanza and this AT&T settlement, some Yanks could be looking at breaking even this tax year.

I always get a kick out of the "up to" headlines.

Chances are what you'll really get is a credit worth $1.75 on your next month bill.

The lawyers will, of course, get $millions.

"up to" should be banned in all advertsing it means next to nothing.

Good God yes.....the disposable income of (most) Americans is phenomenal.

I'm still waiting for my check from Ma Bell... Unfortunately, monopolies work and are the cheapest comsumer solution. Privatization throws Greedy CEOs & shareholders into the mix.

I just applied for the settlement.    I look forward to receiving a one-dollar check in the future.
