A 33-year-old man has been arrested after fatally stabbing his older brother during a family meal in Amnat Charoen province.

Police from Mueang Amnat Charoen Station were called to a residence in Ban Non Chai Dee, Bung Subdistrict, Mueang District, at around 20:30 on 17 August. Upon arrival, officers found the suspect, identified as Mr. Thanin, holding a knife near the scene and took him into custody.

The victim, Mr. A, aged 47, was found with stab wounds to his left collarbone and left rib. Emergency responders rushed him to Amnat Charoen Hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

During initial questioning, Mr. Thanin admitted to stabbing his brother, explaining that repeated verbal abuse from the older sibling had provoked him. According to police, the confrontation occurred while Mr. Thanin was eating with his nephew at the back of the house when the victim repeatedly insulted him, escalating into a physical altercation. Mr. Thanin reportedly picked up a nearby knife and stabbed his brother twice.

Authorities have charged Mr. Thanin with causing bodily harm resulting in death. He is being held in custody pending a formal court hearing at Amnat Charoen Provincial Prison.
