Why is it the checkered shirt is favored by so many old gits in Thailand? Are you one of them?

Speak up loudly and proudly.

Perhaps a photo of this so called "many old gits" would prove what you say, I have seen any, maybe they just don't like Hua Hin...or, more likely, your just full of BS.

This is the first time in my entire long life I've heard that wearing a checkered shirt is an issue. I'm guessing from the same people who don't have a pair of shorts in their wardrobe and wouldn't be seen dead in a pair of sandles/thongs/flip-flops. Dress suitably for the occasion and the weather.

Love it!

Several old fuddy duddy expats wear checkered shirts at the expat haunts where I live, all overweight and still live in the 60's era.

I wonder why they get upset when I say, "I see you're wearing a tea towel again!"

Personally, I wouldn't be seen dead in one, but each to their own.

I grew up in the 1940s and 1950s. I have never worn a checkered shirt, nor did my father, nor does my son. Stripes or plain only. No objection, however, to others  wearing one, or anything else for that matter.

"I was just at Stumble last night. Ugly, unkept slob in t-shirt and cheap shorts bought two rounds for three women. Two of them gave me the eye roll when hugging him (like...ugh, so gross) so I started making all sorts of jokes and drama and the girls were just dying of laughter... in tears. "

Wow.

I'm impressed.

Not asking for your approval

A married man can have a beer outside in the fresh air. I'd love to find a better area to drink outdoors tbh

Never bring my wife into that area that's for Fing sure
