I put him on a par with Hogan.

 

He was autistic, and pathologically shy.

 

I understand Bryson DeChambeau has studied Mo Norman's swing intensively, copying elements of it.

I regret I never got the opportunity to watch Hogan.

 

There's a story about Moe Norman that bears repeating. He was playing with Sam Snead in a tournament, and came to a hole with water across the fairway, in play. Norman pulled out his driver, and Snead said " Moe, everyone lays up short of the water on this hole". Norman replied " Don't worry, Sam. I'm going for the bridge". Then proceeded to run his ball across it.

 

Hogan had an acute golfing brain. He was playing with Snead in the Canada Cup, a two-man event. In the second round, they came to a hole where Hogan said " Hit your 3-wood, Sam".

When they got to their drives, Snead said" This is no good, Ben, I hit a 7 -iron for my second shot yesterday. Today, I need a 5-iron".  Hogan replied "Yes. You had to hit the 7-iron from a hanging lie".
