How Long Can You Stay Off The Forum

Featured Replies

Before anyone gets into a fit I am guilty as charged.

At times I spend too much time on the forum .  Taking a break for awhile and then back again.

On occasion being sent to the “monkey house” is a relief more than punishment.

It can be addictive I must admit.  Not my normal behavior pattern.

This is not a political thread so we can be congenial.

Anyone else feel they have difficulty in staying off the forum periodically?

Thoughrs?

A classic scene from the movie MAJIC (1978) with the great actor Anthony Hopkins inspired my decision to start the thread.

Mods:  I assumed this was the right sub-forum.  If not, please move.

Sometimes for days specially if topics about Trump run the site.

  • Popular Post

I can stay off it for days, if I get sufficiently disgusted with some of the lowlifes and wackos.

I saw that I was among the leading posters in a thread today.

That sends a strong warning where I tell myself to get a life.

But I do check in daily to see what is posted.

Until i have nothing better to do

Around 45 mins every morning with a cuppa. Good to keep up to date with info. There must be many expats who hardly ever/never read AN & probably feel less stressed most of the time.

If the site was organized like it was 10+ years ago where you could view the top content from virtually all of the ongoing sub-forums on the forum's Home Page, then I'd probably spend more time on the site.  Thank goodness Asean Now doesn't do that anymore.
In Asean Now's current organization you can be guaranteed that Gamma Globulin and the various reincarnations of "bob smith" and a few other trollers are are allotted 25% to 30% of the right-hand side and labelled as "popular" in that navigation pane at the expense of no longer highlighting topics of interest throughout Thailand and in sub-forums which might actually be of interest - soooo - I find that Asean Now is very "Self-Limiting."   It takes me less than a minute to seen that there is nothing of obvious interest and then leave the site.  I may respond to something in "Latest posts...." and topics are are obviously news-based and of interest to me, but most times there isn't a lot to comment on.

If the top posts in all of the various sub-forums were highlighted on a Home Page like 10+ years back, I'd probably spend more time. But I'm not scrolling through each sub-forum to see the top or most popular posts in those sub-forums.   So thank you Asean Now for keeping your highlighted and so-call popular posts rather uninteresting.

How Long Can You Stay Off The Forum?

That's usually a decision that's made for me.........🤭
