A lottery vendor was left in shock after a man made off with 272 tickets, then threatening her friend with both a knife and a firearm.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of 23 August, outside a noodle shop in Bang Khan, Khan Na Yao district, Bangkok. Police were alerted and promptly arrived at the scene.

The victim, Ms. Samruay, told police that she had briefly left her stall to use the restroom, leaving her friend Ms. Rassamee to oversee the lottery tickets.

According to reports, a man in his 50s, wearing a long-sleeved shirt and grey trousers, arrived at the stall in a grey pickup truck. Pretending to be a customer, he asked to see the lottery tickets.

Suddenly, he attempted to lift the stall but was unable to do so due to it being tied to a bicycle. He then seized Ms. Samruay’s tickets for the 1 September 2025 draw, totalling 272 slips, and carried them to his truck before driving away.

Ms. Rassamee followed him on a motorcycle, to retrieve the tickets, but the man stopped and brandished a knife and a gun from his waistband, saying, “I have both a knife and a gun, do you want them?” Intimidated, she stopped pursuing him.

Police have begun examining CCTV footage in an effort to track down the suspect.
