A 29-year-old man has been arrested for fatally stabbing his 40-year-old uncle at their home in Lom Sak district, Phetchabun, following a heated argument, police report.

The incident occurred at a property in Moo 2, Pak Duk Subdistrict. The victim, Mr. Panya, was found lying in a pool of blood in the front yard with a single stab wound to his chest. A 10 cm yellow-handled knife was recovered at the scene.

The victim’s mother, 73-year-old Mrs. Chanphen, told authorities that her son had been in a dispute with the suspect, her grandson, Mr. Santiphong. During the argument, Mr. Santiphong chased the victim outside with a knife, fatally stabbing him before fleeing.

Mr. Santiphong, who has a history of mental illness and requires ongoing psychiatric treatment, was later apprehended by police in a nearby area. He has confessed to the killing and is being held on charges of intentional homicide.

Police have arranged for a thorough psychiatric evaluation of the suspect to assist with the investigation. The victim’s body has been taken to Lom Sak Hospital for post-mortem examination before being returned to the family for funeral rites.
