Medication price in Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi, I'vejust been diagnosed with diabetes type 2 while back in France visiting family. I managed to stay pre-diabetic for 7 years with intermittent fasting, unfortunately, it's not longer working... I'm now on a very low carb/0-sugar and daily exercise routine but I'm going to have to take meds for the next trimester. I was wondering if Sitagliptine 100mg and Repaglinide 2mg are available in Thailand and what their prices are. Would anyone here know? Thanks very much in advance for your kind replies. All the best to you all

Sitagliptine  is available under the following brand names:

Gliptin (local generic)

Inglipton (local generic)

Maglitin (local generic)

Siglivia (local generic)

Instadip (Indian generic)

Jimvia (Indian generic)

Januvia (Western import)

Sitagliptine  Sandoz (Western import)

The western imports will be expensive, i.e. same or a bit more than full retail price in Europe (as there is a tariff applied to imports). . The other brands will cost less but I can;'t tell you how much.

There are also several combination Sitagliptine and metformin preparations.

Repaglinide is available only as brand name NovoNorm and may be hard to find.  A western import, will be expensive.

If you want to get an idea of costs for at least some of the brands, contact https://medisafepharma.com/

Thanks ever so much Sheryl for this comprehensive and thorough reply, I really appreciate it. Will look into it and find what's best for my budget. Have a lovely day

I just wonder why you're going straight to the (expensive) Sitagliptine.  Metformin is far, far cheaper (300 baht for 500 x 500 mg).  Certainly in the UK, a patient would usually be started on metformin, and a second drug (usually Sitagliptine or Linagliptin) added later if control is inadequate.
