Notifying Social Security when changing address

Featured Replies

My Thai wife and I both get Social Security benefits.  We plan moving to a different part of Thailand in a few months so we will need to notify SS of the new address.  I sent two emails asking what I needed to do to FBU.Manila[at]ssa.gov and never got an answer.  Has anyone recently changed addresses and how did you do it?  Thanks for the help.

After you actually move, email FBU Manila with the following:

Subject:  Change of Address

Beneficiary:
Last Name, First Name
Date of Birth
Place of Birth
Last Four Digits of Social Security Number (SSN)
New Mailing Address
Contact Phone Number

FBU Manila may or may not phone you to confirm the address change.

ssa.gov has a section for changing address. Or you can try thsi:

Update contact information

Update your mailing address, phone number, or email so we can communicate with you about your benefits.

You can update your email address any time. You can only update your mailing address and phone number if you're already getting benefits.

Sign in to your account

Keep your phone number, email, and mailing address up to date in your account. Depending on your benefit type you may need to call us to complete this task.

For email updates, sign in to your account and select "My Profile" at the top of the page. Next, choose "Security," then "Update Email."

Other ways to complete this task

OP - The info I gave you is correct for your situation.

I am receiving SS benefits.  I changed addresses within Thailand and updated my SS mailing address by emailing FBU Manila.  FBU Manila did not phone me, but your mileage may vary.
