An event now held at the Central Festival Center in North Pattaya which combined two events in one.

The first event was overseen by Khun Niran, the Mayor of Pattaya who was joined by other local dignitaries as the Amari Orchid Resort & Tower presented the longest Bale Fruit Cake in the World. The cake measures 75 meters in length and was produced to celebrate the forthcoming birthday of Her Majesty the Queen. The unveiling of the cake is part of a three day event which finishes on Monday and will include an exciting Fashion Show and a 5 Piece Music Contest. After the event the cake is being sold off in 1 meter lengths cut into 12 pieces.

The price of the cake is only 600 Baht and the money will go straight to the “Baht for a Better Life” charity, helping children from underprivileged backgrounds. To order your piece of cake please call 038 428 161 or email; [email protected]

The second event held at the Central Festival Center on Saturday Morning was an awards presentation ceremony for the winners of the Pattaya Photo Contest 2007 which was overseen by Khun Niran, the Mayor of Pattaya, (Khun Chanyut, former Member of Parliament and owner of Sophon Cable TV) and Khun Ronagit, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya. After much deliberation, the winner of this years contest was Khun Pisit who submitted a stunning photo featuring a panoramic view of Larn Island.

He was presented with a 100,000 Baht cash prize and winners trophy. Second prize and 70,000 Baht went to Khun Tidipong who submitted another picture from Larn Island featuring three young girls on an inflatable boat riding the waves. Many other winners produced photo’s taken at the famous viewpoint of Pattaya Bay at the top of the Pratamnuk Mountain using special lens filters.

I bought a little piece of that cake for 50 baht...really nice cake! It was 1 metre long pieces they were selling for 600 baht.
