The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has arrested a notorious gunman who had been on the run for more than 14 years after being wanted for murder.

Officers from the CIB’s Special Operations Division (BPP) apprehended the suspect, 57-year-old Mr Montra, in Moo 4, Bang Bua Thong district, Nonthaburi. He was wanted under an outstanding arrest warrant for the murder of a man in Bangkok in 2011.

The killing took place at a block of flats in Bang Khae, where Mr Montra allegedly fired several shots from a revolver at the victim, killing him instantly. Witnesses reported that he then stamped on the victim’s face and chillingly remarked, “I do not feel sorry,” before fleeing the scene.

Despite years of evading capture, investigators tracked him down, leading to his arrest in Nonthaburi. He has since been handed over to Phasi Charoen Police Station to face prosecution.

The operation was led under the direction of Pol Lt Gen Jiraphop Phuridej, CIB Commissioner, together with Pol Maj Gen Theerachart Theerachartthamrong, Commander of the BPP, and Pol Col Siwawong Damrongsatsiri, Superintendent of the 3rd Subdivision of the BPP.
