With the current practice of banks using the offshore rate for TT's, is there still such a thing as an IMO, and if so do Thai banks accept them?

Anyone know?

If with “IMO” you mean International Money Order, then yes, they are still available. See here, for example. However, I do not see Thailand in the list of countries accepting them.

Incidentally, I have never had a problem getting the onshore rate for bank remittances to Thailand. I must be doing something right.

I've never previously had a problem, but the Halifax told me a few weeks ago that due to 'problems' transferring sterling to Thailand, in future they will buy the baht here.

Bit of a bummer, luckily I was only sending a relatively small amount.

I've seen comments from other posters who've had similar experiences.

But thanks for the help anyway.
