Police have arrested the infamous gambling boss known as “Pa Nuay Don Muang,” long regarded as untouchable, in a dramatic operation that marks the end of one of Bangkok’s most notorious underground casinos.

The 69-year-old, whose real name is Anuwat Kiatdonmuang, was taken into custody, following a coordinated crackdown led by the Metropolitan Police Bureau. Police confirmed that he has eight outstanding arrest warrants.

His capture comes just days after authorities raided a gambling den in Soi Songprapa 1, Don Muang, where 176 people were caught playing illegal games. The venue sprawled across 18 adjoining plots of land with extensive buildings.

Following intelligence that linked the operation directly to Pa Nuay, officers launched a follow-up raid on a lavish mansion in Bang Pa Han district, Ayutthaya province, believed to be one of his hideouts.

Pol Lt Gen Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, confirmed that the suspect will be questioned at Thung Song Hong Police Station.

The Don Muang casino has been raided more than 20 times over the years, yet repeatedly reopened, earning a notorious reputation. Among gamblers it was said: “If Nuay hasn’t been arrested, the Don Muang casino will never die.”

With his arrest, authorities say that long-standing saying may finally be put to rest.
