A luxury home belonging to a well-known dermatologist in Phang Nga province was destroyed in a devastating fire, with officials still investigating the cause.

The blaze broke out on the evening of 30 August, at the two-storey residence located at 99/9, Moo 3, Nop Pring subdistrict, Mueang Phang Nga district, directly opposite Phang Nga Municipal School. Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion inside the house shortly before flames engulfed the property.

Family members initially attempted to extinguish the fire using household extinguishers but were forced to call for emergency assistance when the flames spread rapidly. Fire engines from Phang Nga Municipality’s disaster prevention and mitigation unit, supported by additional crews from surrounding areas, rushed to the scene and battled the blaze for several hours before bringing it under control.

Mayor Sermpong Saridsuk of Phang Nga Municipality, together with local administrative leaders and Deputy Governor Buncha Thanuin, supervised firefighting operations at the scene.

The homeowner, a dermatologist at Phang Nga Hospital, told officials that the fire appeared to have started after an electrical system inside the house exploded. Despite the quick response from fire crews, the second floor of the residence was completely destroyed, with initial estimates putting the damage in the millions of baht.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the exact cause of the incident.
