Authorities in Trang province have launched a crackdown on illegal modified motorcycles and loud exhausts, seizing more than 1,200 bikes and destroying over 900 exhaust pipes in a bid to curb street racing and public disturbances.

The operation, part of the campaign titled “Modified Motorbikes – Don’t Ride in Trang”, was announced at a press conference at the Trang Provincial Police Headquarters. Governor Thongkolod Sawangwong chaired the briefing, alongside Police Major General Phattharawit Keetamotnuyakul, head of Trang Provincial Police, representatives from the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Trang, and police chiefs from 16 local stations.

During the campaign, authorities inspected 562 repair shops and motorcycle garages and 158 schools and vocational institutions under the initiative “Open Schools, Open Garages”. Violations were found at 12 schools, with 45 motorcycles seized. A total of 15 parents were summoned for their children’s involvement.

The police also reported results from wider law enforcement efforts in August. Drug-related arrests numbered 160, involving 159 suspects and seizures of 9,550 methamphetamine tablets and 2.08 grams of crystal meth. Firearms-related offences accounted for 38 arrests with 39 weapons and 188 rounds of ammunition seized. Gambling-related arrests numbered 27, while 34 suspects were apprehended under outstanding warrants. Two individuals were arrested for immigration law violations.

As part of the motorbike crackdown, seized modified exhausts were crushed by a steamroller in a symbolic act of deterrence, witnessed by the provincial governor.

Police Major General Phattharawit highlighted five key measures to combat illegal modified motorbikes:

1. Immediate seizure and destruction of any modified vehicle or equipment.

2. Parental responsibility for minors, with possible legal consequences.

3. Schools to monitor at-risk students under the “Open Schools, Open Garages” initiative.

4. Shops and garages prohibited from selling or installing unapproved modification parts.

5. Online pages promoting illegal modifications will be shut down, with administrators subject to prosecution.

The provincial authorities stressed that the campaign would continue relentlessly, with warnings to motorbike owners and parents that violations would be met with swift enforcement.

Most of these have already been replaced with new, louder models"))

Please bring to Pattaya. Start with inspecting bike rental shops renting out big modified bikes, that's where all the Kuwaitis and other tourists get their noisy bikes.
