Those machines are designed for the elderly. Not much use for younger people.

Not even much use for that.  It's recommended that older people do resistance exercises.  That usually requires weight.  Those machines in the parks usually don't use any weight, so not much use at all.  You can probably get a better workout in your aircon room just doing things like sit-ups and push-up.
