An electrician was killed after being electrocuted while working on a roadside lamp post in Ayutthaya Province on 14 September 2025. Rescue workers attempted to resuscitate the victim, identified as 47-year-old Niphan, but he was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to hospital. The accident occurred around 11.40 in Ban Thao Subdistrict, Sena District, near a local college.

Police from Sena Station, led by Pol Lt Col Thanathorn Insaeng, deputy investigator, received the report and arrived with hospital emergency staff and Ayutthaya Ruam Jai Association responders. At the scene, the victim was found unconscious at the base of a lamp post with colleagues attempting CPR. A fallen light unit and a ladder still leaning against the pole were also found, along with an unused safety line.

Witnesses said the victim was part of a six-man team hired to install roadside lighting. He was working as part of a pair, climbing the ladder, when he suddenly came into contact with a live wire. A co-worker on the ground stated that the shock throw him off the ladder.

Despite immediate efforts, Niphan succumbed to his injuries at Sena Hospital. His death underscores the risks faced by electrical workers handling live power lines. Authorities emphasised that an investigation was underway to clarify the exact cause.

Police will take further witness statements and examine the worksite. The body will be sent to the Justice Ministry’s Institute of Forensic Science in Pathum Thani for autopsy. Once complete, the remains will be returned to the family for funeral rites.
