Diverticulitis surgery in pattaya - 6 inches of colon removed

Featured Replies

I need to get surgery for diverticulitis. Around 6 inches of my colon removed.

anyone ever do similar surgeries in pattaya?

Got diverticulitis few years ago, very very painful 2-3 times for around 3 weeks made me dream about remove part of my colon until I learned that’s something they don’t do anymore after realizing the pain getting milder and less often with time and without operation. Now I don’t suffer much and I am so happy to have saved my colon.

About 10 years ago I had a Diverticulitis attack and was told I needed to have surgery at Bangkok hospital to remove part of the colon. I went to I believe it was the red cross hospital in Sriracha and I spent two weeks getting antibiotics. They put me on a fit to fly list and when I was discharged I flew to Hawaii to meet with my doctors at Kaiser Hospital. They said my first Diverticulitis attack they educate not operate. They told me what to eat and what not to eat. They said if I come back with a second attack they will operate. I never had another attack. I flew back to Thailand and I eat right (easy to digest foods) and I’m careful not to strain if I have constipation.

I am 4 months out from my first attack with many minor flateups.  Brutal disease but gets better I have heard.

If I need surgery, I was thinking of doing it in Pattaya as I could get a few months off from work to have the surgery and recover.

I advise:

1. Getting second, or even third,  opinion before considering surgery

2. If surgery is indeed necessary, have it done in Bangkok, not Pattaya.  You can still recover in Pattaya, but don't do the surgery there.

I highly recommend this doctor

Best colorectal surgeon in Thailand and also a very nice person.

He is also at Bumrungrad but everything will cost more there. BCH (Bangkok Christian) is nonprofit hospital.

I don't know anything about this condition, but since you mentioned that surgery may not be necessary, I wondered what are the options besides surgery.

So I asked my trusted and ONLY friend AI and got this:

Diverticulitis gets complicated for some people. I am looking at options potentially for a few years out.

hopfully I won’t need surgery.
