A car transporting Myanmar migrants crashed on Ratchaphruek Road in Pathum Thani early on 22 September, leaving two people dead and seven others injured. The collision occurred when the vehicle driver lost control and struck a road sign in the central reservation. Police and rescue workers confirmed the deceased were one man and one woman, while the injured included six men and one woman.

The crash took place at 05:15 near Ban Chang, Mueang District, when a black Toyota Innova, licence plate from Samut Prakan, mounted the central reservation and crashed into a road sign. Police Lieutenant Colonel Suthon Jittapoom, inquiry officer at Mueang Pathum Thani Police Station, responded along with rescue volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation. Cutting equipment was used to extract three trapped passengers, with two pronounced dead at the scene and another critically injured.

All victims were identified as Myanmar nationals, unable to communicate in Thai. Emergency responders provided initial treatment before transferring the injured to Pathum Thani Hospital. Officers also found clothing and personal belongings inside the vehicle, which were collected for investigation.

Initial assessments suggest the driver may have been unfamiliar with the route or had fallen asleep, causing the vehicle to veer off course. Poor visibility was also a factor, as streetlights along the section of road have reportedly been out for some time, leading to frequent crashes in the area. Authorities noted that the dark conditions may have contributed to the crash.

Lieutenant Colonel Suthon oversaw the examination of the site alongside forensic doctors. The deceased were later sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Ministry of Justice, for autopsy. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident, focusing on the driver’s condition and travel route of the group.
