A political activist and businessman, Tanat “Luk Nat” Thanakitamnuay, was arrested in Chon Buri on September 24 for assaulting a U Drink I Drive employee. This arrest came after Luk Nat failed to respond to three police summonses. The incident has attracted public interest as it involves a well-known figure with a controversial past.

The assault occurred on July 5, when Luk Nat attacked Chalongchai, a driver for U Drink I Drive, a service known for providing professional chauffeurs to those needing a safe ride after consuming alcohol. According to company co-founder Apinara "Prang" Srikarnchana, Luk Nat not only physically injured Chalongchai but also stole his belongings and threatened his family. Prang shared the incident via her TikTok account on September 20, bringing attention to the case, which had previously gone unnoticed.

Luk Nat has been involved in previous legal issues; his home was raided on August 7, revealing firearms and drugs. This action followed accusations from two female entertainers who alleged they were assaulted and coerced into drug use. Despite ongoing legal cases related to firearms and these assaults, the attack on Chalongchai had not been publicly addressed until now.

Police had summoned Luk Nat three times without response, leading to his arrest. He arrived at Bang Lamung Police Station with his lawyer, choosing not to engage with media inquiries. Luk Nat’s lawyer claimed that Luk Nat was unaware of the summonses and had not intentionally avoided the legal process. The police have detained Luk Nat for questioning to determine whether he will be granted temporary release.

Looking forward, Luk Nat's legal proceedings will determine his accountability for the assault, and whether further charges will arise from this incident. The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding violence and accountability among public figures in Thailand.

I can see another runner coming up.

How do the police go about making a summons here?

Shades of the Red Bull brat declining to visit the police station for weeks before his disappearance.
