Police in Surat Thani have seized 200,000 methamphetamine pills hidden in a foam box and concealed with durian fruit, intended for sale at a Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan. The arrest took place at around 06:00 on 30 September 2025, at a cargo transport area in Pho Thawai Market, Surat Thani municipality. The suspect, Mr Nuntachai, 32, was stopped while riding a motorcycle carrying the concealed drugs.

Authorities said the foam box was labelled with the name “Mam” and a phone number. Investigators found durians placed on top to mask the smell of the drugs. The suspect admitted he was transporting the package for a man known as “Keng” and that this was the second time he had carried such a consignment across to Koh Phangan. Police have taken him for further questioning and plan to search his residence for more evidence.

Police disclosed that the suspect had a prior conviction for drug offences in 2016, serving almost two years in prison. Since his release, he had reportedly returned to drug trafficking. Earlier this month, he was caught attempting to send methamphetamine and crystal meth (ice) to Koh Phangan for sale during a Full Moon Party, but the case was disrupted after he fled with the contraband.

Authorities said the suspect was being monitored due to his history and suspected ongoing involvement in supplying drugs to the island’s nightlife scene. The arrest followed direct orders from the Surat Thani police chief to intensify surveillance of trafficking operations linked to the Full Moon Party. Police are continuing to investigate to identify other members of the network.
