A 6.9 magnitude earthquake unexpectedly interrupted the 2025 Miss Asia Pacific International pageant's benefit gala in Cebu City, causing chaos among attendees. The quake, originating in Bogo City, struck during the runway exit at Radisson Blu Hotel, forcing guests, including 43 delegates, to seek shelter as the chandeliers swayed and items toppled. The event aimed to support Operation Smile through ticket sales and auctions of designer items and luxury goods.

Prior to the earthquake, the event showcased Philippine ternos designed by Cebuano designers and conducted live auctions with creations by recognized designers like Kenneth Cobonpue and John Herrera. The preliminary competition will occur at JPark Island Resort on October 3, followed by the coronation night at Cebu Coliseum on October 8.
